Riding in a wheelbase that measures 270 cm and curb weight of 3175 lb, the e36 chassis features an anti-squat, anti-dive and anti-roll suspension that has twin-tube gas pressure shock absorbers. It also has an exhaust system with stainless steel components and an engine-speed-sensitive variable assist/variable ratio power rack and pinion steering.

 

Just like the other BMWs, the e36 also offers numerous standard equipments. These includes aerodynamic features common to BMW like special front and lower rear spoiler and rocker panels. There were also features such as power front windows with key-off operation, automatic positioning of windows for positive sealing, air conditioning and heating with separate electronic temperature control for left and right sides and a micro filtered ventilation. Features such as central locking system, cruise control, speed sensing wipers, leather seats with special M design, leather shift knob/hand-brake grip and a leather-covered height adjustable M-Technic steering wheel.

 

The e36 also features entertainment and convenience that include an anti-theft AM/FM stereo radio/cassette CD-ready audio system, dual power/heated outside mirrors, heated driver's door lock, windshield washer jets, Driveaway Protection and Service Interval Indicator. Safety features includes a vacuum-assisted 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes, 4 sensor 4 channel anti-lock brakes system, all-season traction control, dual-airbag supplementary restraint system, impact sensor and side impact protection.
